I'm surrounded, in my neighborhood, by people who have brand new apartments and townhomes designed just for people who can work but don't want to. Meanwhile people like me, you, us, are paying, hell, 2,000?, 2,500?, more?, for rent in some subpar place in some subpar location.

This is interesting because it's the opposite where I live. Complex after complex of high end condos, senior living communities, and gated McMansionvilles, there's nothing affordable. There is NO "affordable housing" where I live. There is NO "low income housing" - you're either keeping your head above water, floating by with aid of SNAP and Section 8, or you're homeless.

In my town, they just built a row of eight one-bedroom "townhomes" that are going for $2600 a month. Well guess what? They're feet away from Route 1 and a major intersection, and surrounding them are their other three views of a bigger, much more affordable complex, a cemetery, or a Dollar General.

They're empty. They've been sitting empty on Zillow for months. Builders (and towns) need to WAKE THE FUCK UP and start giving people what they need instead of just what they want to see.
